The Garage Bar

Looking for a quick bite before attending a production at Actors Theatre on Friday, we were lured by the lights of The Garage Bar, housed in a former service station on East Market Street. The Garage Bar, which is owned by Michael Paley (also the chef at Proof on Main), offers a decent list of bourbons and ryes and draft and bottled beers and a short menu with a focus on wood-fired pizzas. Appetizers include tastings of regional Kentucky country hams; after sampling a Broadbent ham from Kuttawa sliced paper-thin, we decided on the Margherita pizza ($13):

The crust was light and chewy and the sauce very delicate. I enjoyed an Old Fashioned with my meal; my husband opted for an Anchor Steam. Our tanks filled, we were on our way.
