Our Jim Beam Sampler Pack Adventure concludes today with a taste of Jim Beam Rye.
Four years old; 80 proof
Aroma: Grassy, lots of grain, spicy
Taste: Spice, vanilla, lots of alcohol, soft finish
Verdict: I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to like this, but it surprised me. By far the most complex of the four products in the Jim Beam Sampler Pack, it had a nice chewy flavor and a great finish. It also made me realize how limited my experience with rye whiskey is – a deficiency I plan to address. But I would probably never have shelled out the money for a full-size bottle, which brings me back to my original point: Samplers are a great, low-risk way to expand your bourbon horizons.
Is there a bourbon you think the Bourbon Babe should try? Let me know.
