I was delighted to be asked to write the introduction for “Small Batch: An Anthology of Bourbon Poetry,” just released by Two of Cups Press of Louisville. The Two of Cups is a Tarot card, and if early sales are any indication, it must be a lucky one: They are on the second print run. Not every poem in the nearly 150-page book is just about bourbon, but they all mention it in some way. I’ll share with you one of my favorites, the poem that opens the anthology:
“A Bourbon Poetry Submission,” by David S. Atkinson:
I heard this press wanted poems about
bourbon.
This confused me, because I thought
bourbon
was already a poem.
