No, you’re not seeing things: That is a bottle of Woodford Reserve and a bottle of Maker’s Mark packaged together. This unprecedented pairing pays tribute to the Bellarmine University Knights, who won the NCAA Division II National Championship earlier this year. The limited-edition bottles bear the distinctive scarlet and silver colors of the private Louisville, Ky., university.
The Woodford bottle is signed by master distiller Chris Morris, a 1980 Bellarmine graduate. The Maker’s bottle is signed by Bill Samuels Jr., the distiller’s chairman emeritus and a member of Bellarmine’s Board of Trustees. The set is also signed by Bellarmine coach Scotty Davenport and university president Joseph J. McGowan.
Bellarmine fans and bourbon collectors can obtain this keepsake set on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 9 a.m., when Bellarmine will make them available for $200 each. The event takes place in Frazier Hall at the university’s George G. Brown Center, and proceeds benefit Bellarmine’s $100 million capital campaign, which is being led by Samuels.
