August 15. It’s an important date for Bourbon Women for two reasons:
It’s the deadline to enter the Bourbon Women Association’s second annual Not Your Pink Drink Contest. The contest has two categories – professional ($25 entry fee) and amateur ($15 fee). Each cocktail recipe must include bourbon and at least two other ingredients, and the resulting drink must not be pink! The winners of each division will be announced at the 2013 Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown and will become the official cocktails of the Bourbon Women Association for one year. (Above, samples of one of the winning drinks from 2012.) There are also fabulous prizes. What are you waiting for? Click here and enter today.
August 15 is also the date of “Mixing at the Mansion,” a evening of cocktails, networking and education at the Governor’s Mansion co-sponsored by Bourbon Women and the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. All seven members of the KDA’s new Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour (Barrel House, Corsair, Limestone Branch, MB Roland, Old Pogue, Silver Trail and Willett) will be offering samples. You can also enjoy appetizers created by Ouita Michel of Holly Hill Inn, Anthony Lamas of Seviche, Jonathan Lundy of Jonathan at Gratz Park and more.
The cost for this exclusive event is $75 for Bourbon Women members and $100 for non-members (registration includes a one-year BW membership – that’s a 25 percent discount). You must have a reservation. Since this event is sure to sell out, I suggest you click here right now to order your tickets.
