It’s the deadline to enter the Bourbon Women Association’s second annual Not Your Pink Drink Contest. The contest has two categories – professional ($25 entry fee) and amateur ($15 fee). Each cocktail recipe must include bourbon and at least two other ingredients, and the resulting drink must not be pink! The winners of each division will be announced at the 2013 Kentucky Bourbon Festival in Bardstown and will become the official cocktails of the Bourbon Women Association for one year. August 15 is also the date of “Mixing at the Mansion,” a evening of cocktails, networking and education at the Governor’s Mansion co-sponsored by Bourbon Women and the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. All seven members of the KDA’s new Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour(Barrel House, Corsair, Limestone Branch, MB Roland, Old Pogue, Silver Trail and Willett) will be offering samples.
