The Fig Jig

The advent of fall calls for cocktails with rich, deep flavors. This one features both the dark fruit notes of fig and the brightness of orange, which is a natural complement to bourbon.

1 tablespoon fig jam (I used Dalmatia Orange Fig Spread to boost the orange quotient)

1½ ounces bourbon (I used Four Roses Yellow Label)

¼ ounce orange liqueur (I used Grand Marnier)

½ ounce fresh lemon juice

In a cocktail shaker, combine the jam, bourbon, orange liqueur, lemon juice and ice. Cover and shake. Double strain the cocktail into an ice-filled Old-Fashioned glass and serve. Optional garnish: Lemon or orange peel.
