Several years back I was invited to Woodford Reserve’s Manhattan Experience, a competition co-sponsored by the bourbon and Esquire magazine that was held at the Kentucky Derby Museum. While the judges sampled variations on the Manhattan mixed by the five contestants, we rabble were treated to three of Woodford’s own creations. This was my favorite. It’s sweet (no bitters) and smooth and warming. I love a classic Manhattan, but sometimes you just want a drink that goes down easy. (That’s a bit of a warning, by the way: These go down real easy, so don’t get carried away!)
Ingredients
1 oz. Woodford Reserve
1 oz. butterscotch schnapps
1 oz. sweet vermouth
1 cinnamon stick (garnish)
Add spirits to a shaker filled with ice. Mix well, strain into martini glass and garnish with cinnamon stick. Sip and savor.
